20 Nov Successful permanent permission for a dwelling to support an equestrian business

Unusually for a rural workers dwelling, only temporary planning permission was granted for the conversion of a redundant agricultural building into residential use for staff employed by a livery yard business in Kent.

In this case, the converted dwelling was well related to the equestrian yard and it was shown there is a functional need for an onsite presence in case of emergencies and for security. Supporting financial information proved the livery yard was well established and that the business is profitable. The Council was satisfied that the long-term future of the livery business is viable and the permanent conversion of the building as a dwelling is justified.
