We have successfully secured planning permission for new purpose-built kennels in the Green Belt, as well as a change to the occupancy condition which will allow for the expansion of a small family-run dog boarding business.

The application was in response to the updated Model Licence Conditions which imposes the requirements that bigger kennels would be needed in order for large dogs to board, or for dogs from the same home to be able to board together.

We argued that the development would not impact on the openness of the Green Belt because of the existing screening of the site from public view and that it constituted appropriate expansion of a rural business.

We needed to prove that increasing the number of dogs on site would not unacceptably increase noise or traffic movements from the site. The growth of the business will allow for greater employment in the immediate area and continue to contribute to the local rural economy.
