A significant landowner in Lewes District developed a game farm on the edge of the farmyard with young pheasants being supplied to various shoots in England.

The application for the game farm was rejected by the Lewes District Planning Committee who overturned the officer’s recommendation. The case was taken successfully to appeal.

In the Inspector’s opinion, the development was not detrimental to the landscape and met the aspirations of the National Park in terms of land use. Conditions were imposed relating to bird numbers.
