Local Planning Authority
The RPP recently secured planning permission and Listed Building Consent for the conversion of a Grade II* Listed residential care home.

The care home is in the heart of an East Sussex village and is being converted into a dwelling offering four Bed and Breakfast rooms.

The planning justification explained that the heritage building has become degraded as a result of the care home use that placed great pressure on a fragile building. The structure was not easily adapted to provide en suite bathrooms or a lift and would require extensive investment and refurbishment in order to meet prevailing care home regulations which would in turn harm the fabric of the building.

We demonstrated the proposal satisfies national and local policy, retaining a commercial use that offers a ‘lifestyle business’ also contributing to the local economy, while ensuring the preservation and enhancement of the historic features of the building.
